Keeps the queso warm!

Story time: Years ago my wife got us tickets to go

Story time: Years ago my wife got us tickets to go see Davis Sedaris for my birthday. He was great. Witty. Hilarious. Afterwards I got to meet him and get a book signed.
A few weeks later I decided to write an essay with a Sedaris voice about me going to see Sedaris. Very meta, I know. I polished it up, and thought of it as a good practice piece.
Years later, I’m reading the New Yorker and Sedaris has an essay in it called Stepping Out, about how he had become addicted to getting steps on a Fitbit. In it he describes going for long country walks in England, stopping only to read fan mail at the local restaurant.
I sent his publisher a letter from me and the essay I had written. And forgot about it.
Months later, I get a postcard from Germany from the man himself! David Sedaris read my essay and even quoted it back to me saying it was funny.
And now I got my book next to his on Amazon!
